Frequently Asked Questions

How long do HB Botanicals candles burn?

The burn time of our candles varies depending on the vessel and the environment in which the candle is burning, but as a rule of thumb: every ounce of wax gives 6-7 hours of burn time. So an 8 oz. candle would last up to 56 hours!

What are the best practices for burning my new HB Botanicals Candle?

Make sure you burn your candle for 2-3 hours the first time around. You want to make sure your wax pool extends to both ends of the vessel before extinguishing. This will avoid tunneling! You should also be sure to trim your wick to 1/4" EVERY TIME to avoid smoking wicks. Do not leave your candle unattended, do not burn the candle for more than 4 hours at a time as the vessel may heat up or the wick will smoke from lack of trimming.

How do I get the last 1/4¨ of wax out of my container so I can repurpose it?

You can either A) put the candle in the freezer overnight and the wax should easily pop out the next day, or B) run hot water into the candle to melt the remaining wax so you can scoop it out!

How do I repurpose the candle vessel after the burn life is over?

The possibilities are endless! We've tried everything from a succulent planter, pencil cup, knick knack holder, bathroom canister for make up brushes or cotton balls, and more! We love seeing how our customers give our vessels a second life!

Our candle container is made to be repurposed by you and collect them as glasses or other holders so we recycle, reuse and help our environment!

What are your candles and wicks made out of?

Each HB Botanicals candle is a combination of our clean-burning soy wax blend and our alluring fragrance oils. All of our wicks are made of 100% U.S. cotton or Balsa Wood. Depending on your purchase.

We are proud to support the National Park Foundation to protect more than 84 million acres of National Parks through conservation and preservation.

Where is your soy wax sourced from?

All of our soy wax comes from U.S farms!

How does the reed diffuser work, how long does it last?

The fragrance oil is in the vessel. Place all the reed diffusers provided in the box into the glass vessel. Let the reeds soak in the fragrance and turn them over. To refresh the diffuser reeds- turn them upside down and into the vessel again about once a week.

There are many factors that contribute to how long the oils last. Air conditioning, heating, closed doors, open doors, dehumidifiers, etc. However, we have found that our 100ml diffuser oil should last for approximately 3-4 months, but ultimately this will depend on the temperature of your home.

Do I light the diffuser sticks?

No! The reeds will pull up the fragrance from the container into the tips naturally. You don’t need to apply heat to the reeds—ever!

Do you test your products on animals?

No! Not ever. We consider it an honor and a privilege to respect nature and the beloved creatures who share this world with us.

What is different/special about soy wax?

No toxins, carcinogens or pollutants which means our candles are less likely to trigger allergies. And no petrol-carbon soot like you get from petroleum-based paraffin candles. Longer lasting. Soy wax burns cooler which means that you can enjoy your soy wax candle for generally 30-50% longer than a paraffin candle.

How do I know if I am allergic to a fragrance?

If you are ever sneezing from lighting a candle, or experiencing a reed diffuser you may use it in a more open space or a common room other than your bedroom. Rarely is anybody allergic to your natural fragrances.

If you experience redness or itching on your skin with any of our bath and body products- rinse with water, discontinue use and if needed consult a physician. We pride ourselves in using natural ingredients and essences but some people are even allergic to the natural fruit or seeds. Listen to your body.
